Milling Wheat
In order to achieve a premium, most milling wheat contracts require a minimum 13% protein content. Since nitrogen is a key constituent of protein it is important to manage applications effectively to produce the maximum level in crops. This is most effectively achieved by applying foliar nitrogen late in the season.

Protein Plus is a concentrated foliar urea solution used to enhance the grain protein content of milling wheat.

Protein Plus-S has the addition of sulphur which is important during the formation of protein chains. Long protein chains help to create the stretchy quality dough that goes on to produce good loaf volume on baking.

OMEX Hyprocontains a urease inhibitor to reduce volatilization losses of ammonia from the leaf. Urease is an enzyme which drives the breakdown of urea to ammonium nitrogen. In addition to urea, Hypro also contains hygroscopic humectants which extract moisture from the atmosphere, prolonging the uptake of nutrients and making the application of Hypro safer to the leaf.


Protein Plus and Hypro are applied at the milky ripe stage by conventional sprayer with fan jets.

Best results are achieved from early morning or late evening application, when the nitrogen is rapidly absorbed and utilised by the crop. It is recommended that applications made during the day are diluted with 100l/ha of water.

The spray tank should be filled with half the required water. Measure the required amount of product and add to the tank whilst maintaining constant agitation. Add remaining water to correct dilution and spray.


Do not apply in adverse weather conditions or when crop is under stress.

Hagberg Falling Number
It is possible to improve the HFN in crops by including 1.0 litre/ha of the biostimulant Kelpak. Kelpak helps protect crops from loosing HFN and has been shown to increase yield when tank-mixed with Protein Plus. Kelpak can also help reduce the risk of scorch for applications in stress conditions.
